10 AM Update

After some deliberation--this is supposed to be a nearly deliberation-free day, so there wasn't much--I decided I'd be happier with some other games today besides opaque Italian games on global warming.  Big game, or little games?  I remembered that I've wanted to play Lock and Load's White Star Rising for a while, since I got it during my last sojourn in DC.  I've been collecting platoon-level WWII games; I adore Tank Leader, but the formation cards make it hard to solitaire.  This looked a little easier.

I set up the first scenario.  The boards had warped; they're frankly not very good boards and I'm not the only one with gripes.  But no gripes today!  Today is a no-gripe day.  Off to find the errata; there is always errata, this does not affect my happiness.  Problem: The errata is out there as a very fancy PDF that will kill off my cyan and yellow ink if I actually print it off.  Boo!  Wait--no boo; gotta un-boo...

OK, back to it.  Look around at everything else out there on the internet; lots of player aids.  That is typically a good and bad thing.  Good, because hey: Easier game to learn.  Bad: You need player aids to learn the game.  Anyway, nothing to it but to print 'em out.

(Should I have initiated a Combat Commander marathon?  Maybe I should have done that.  No looking back!)

Anyway, off to the rules.  I like reading rules.

In the meantime, some Happy Music (sort of) for 10 AM:
